Portuguese Water Dog General Appearance:

The Portuguese Water Dog doesn’t shed, which makes them a hypoallergenic dog breed. In fact, a close relative of the Portuguese Water Dog is the hypoallergenic Poodle! The Portuguese Water Dog’s coat is coarse and curly, and when it’s left ungroomed, the hair grows indefinitely, which means regular trips to the groomers are a must. Male Portuguese Water Dogs weigh between 42 and 60 pounds, and measure 20 to 23 inches from the withers. Female Portuguese Water Dogs weigh between 35 to 50 pounds, and measure 17 to 20 inches from the withers.
