Plott Hound General Appearance:

The Plott is a large breed of hound with a keen ability to track prey by scent. They can weigh from 40 to 60 pounds. The Plott is generally athletic and muscular, with brindle markings. The Plott Hound coat is short and glossy, and they have large, oval shaped ears.

Plott Hound Temperament:

The Plott Hound is a hunting dog, and they fare best when they have a daily regime of vigorous exercise. Loving and loyal, they’re great family pets, but are better suited to households with older children as they can become territorial over their feeding area — which can be an issue with young children wandering into their space. A strong dominant streak means that the Plott Hound will do best with an experienced dog owner.

Plott Hound Fun Fact:

The Plott Hound is a rare breed of dog, despite being the state dog of North Carolina.
