English Mastiff General Appearance:

The English Mastiff is an extremely large dog with a massive head, which always displays a black mask. These gentle giants weigh between 27.5 and 30 inches tall, and they can weigh between 150 to 250 pounds.

Their short coats can be apricot, fawn, or brindle. The Mastiff is a massive, heavy-boned dog with an alert, kindly expression, a broad skull, and wide-set forelegs. Their dark-colored ears lie close to the cheeks and are rounded at the tips.

While the English Mastiff is commonly known as simply a “Mastiff,” there are a variety of other Mastiff breeds, including the following:

Tibetan Mastiff: A tall, heavy-boned breed known for their livestock guardian instincts

Neapolitan Mastiff: A large, fearless, ancient dog breed with characteristically loose skin

French Mastiff: Also known as the Dogue de Bordeaux, this powerful breed has a large head and a fawn or mahogany coat color

English Mastiff Temperament:

Despite their massive size, the English Mastiff is a good-natured, docile dog! They’re loyal to their families and serve as excellent companion animals. They’re intelligent and eager to please, so you should train and socialize Mastiff puppies in order to help them get along with other people and dogs! Positive reinforcement works best for these gentle giants, and due to their size, they’ll love living in the country or suburbs.

English Mastiff Fun Fact:
