I bought my first Kerry in 1970 and never looked back. Would never own any other breed. They are comical and push the envelope to see how much they can get away with. They keep you on your toes with humor and affection. I show, groom and handle my own dogs to their championships. My first priority is to breed for temperament. Very livable Kerries. All that have been in my breeding program have been tested for the following: OFA certified hips, eyes, vWd & factor Xi and thyroid. Life expectancy has been from 14 to one that is still with me is 16.5 years old. Their coats do not shed. They do not have a second coat and their hair is similar to humans. The downside is they need grooming regularly. A thorough brushing weekly and trimmed every 4 weeks. They love the little people (children) and would probably if allowed end up sleeping with them. If you like the Irish humor then you can enjoy a Kerry Blue Terrier.
